The Virginia Beach Police Department Honor Guard serves as an official representative for the Virginia Beach Police Department and the Chief of Police. When requested, the Honor Guard also represents the City of Virginia Beach as determined by the Chief of Police.

 

To qualify to be a member of this unit, he/she must have two years of uninterrupted service as a sworn police officer and must commit to two years of active service membership. The Honor Guard Unit currently consists of 23 members department wide. 

The Virginia Beach Police Honor Guard Unit will participate in any event, with a written request to the Chief of Police and authorized by the Chief of Police, to include the following:

  • Funeral Services of police personnel
  • Memorial Services
  • Parades
  • Flag Presentation and Honors

    Mission Statement

     

    The mission of the Virginia Beach Police Honor Guard is to conduct and support official ceremonies, memorial affairs, and special events repesenting the Department and the City of Virginia Beach to the highest standard.
